Take part in our pilot workshops for creative practical music making in Portishead.
Explore lots of musical instruments including pitched and unpitched percussion, play rhythm and pitch games, learn to play simple traditional tunes as a group, and discover how we can use music in storytelling!
Our pilot sessions are running:
Wednesday 23rd February Portishead Youth Centre 15:00-16:30 (Ideal for children age 7 and over) & Thursday 24th February Avon Way Hall 10:15-11:45 (Ideal for children age 7 and under)

Pilot workshops are limited to 12 participants per session on a first come first served basis. There is no charge for pilot workshops and no prior experience is necessary. We ask that accompanying adults remain for the duration of the session and provide plenty of feedback about your experience on the day.
We will do all we can to accommodate individuals with additional needs so please advise us of any specific considerations when you book.

About Laura Porter
Laura Porter is a highly qualified musician and teacher based in Portishead, UK.
Laura graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as a clarinet specialist and in addition performs on bass clarinet, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. As well as her B.Mus Performance degree, Laura holds a Masters in Music (Musicology) from The Open University and the ABRSM Dip. Teaching qualification.
Alongside private music teaching, Laura has experience working for county music services, music hubs, state and private schools, ensemble leadership, and as the woodwind specialist for a senior youth music centre. Laura is a founder of Bristol Woodwind Duo and of the Livas Quartet, with whom she organised international composition workshops and playing days, culminating in live performances of a number of original commissions at Bristol Beacon (formerly Colston Hall) in Bristol.
